Christeil Gota
Our Co-Host
Christeil Gota is a first-generation immigrant from the Philippines, who came to the United States with her parents in 1975. Chris and her sisters grew up in Burbank and attended local private schools. Chris became a young mother in 1987 when she gave birth to her first son, Mikee, at age 17. As a young single mother, Chris attended college classes and worked full time. Her early career was spent as a personal and executive assistant to various people in the entertainment and publishing industry, then as a copywriter, and Human Resources Manager for companies such as Merck Pharmaceuticals and Disney Consumer Products.
She stepped away from full-time work in 2000 to raise 3 more sons with her husband, John at their home in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 2011, Chris returned to LA, California, and full-time work in the healthcare field, specifically with private oncology practices in Los Angeles, Orange County, and Honolulu, Hawaii.
Philanthropy
Chris believes strongly in philanthropic work and has volunteered for local charities, such as the Adventist Health Cancer Guild, and the Soroptimist International of Glendale. In 2012, Chris founded The Cancer Care Network Foundation. The Foundation is a 501c3 public charity that provides financial assistance and advocacy for cancer patients. Unlike other cancer charities that promise to fund research for a future cure, The Cancer Care Network Foundation focuses its help on patients about to begin, or in the middle of cancer therapy, but need financial assistance to cover co-pays and deductibles towards essential, life-saving treatments.
Family
In addition to full-time business management in Los Angeles and Honolulu and her charity work, Chris also homeschools her 3 younger sons, Justin, AJ, and Jack. She has been a homeschool mother since 2007. She shares her homeschool experience in homeschool support groups on social media to support and encourage others who want to explore the notion of home education for their own families.
At 51 years old and after many years of homeschooling children while managing a business and career, Chris is embarking on a more creative path. Chris sponsors the work of others in the field of mental health, career counseling, and alternative education. Through her participation in The Original Show with Chris and Liza, Chris hopes to highlight the struggles and strides being made in personal growth by herself and others.
